Summer Internships
Summer Internships
The summer of 2009 was the second year the Lakota Journey supported summer interns on the Rosebud and Pine Ridge Indian Reservations. The five interns spent anywhere from two weeks to two months actively involved in ministries on the reservations. The goal of the summer internship is for college-age Christians, previously involved in the Lakota Journey, prepare for the Lakota Journey in June, to become apart of the communities on the reservations, to further develop relationships and to support pastors, churches and those committed to permanent ministry on the reservations. The summer 2009 interns were all from the south suburbs of Minneapolis. They were Jackie Ellis, Glen Marshall, Emily Werness, Alyssa Rosenow, and Robbie Cayton.
“It was great to get to deepen all of my previous relationships on the reservation and see God work in new ways in the lives of these kids. I learned a lot this summer.”
-Glen Marshall
“The most exciting part of my summer was building relationships with local young adults. Working together at the summer recreation program, we did everything from swimming to eating to being tired together.”
-Jackie Ellis
